The Church Restaurant Mullingar

Hello my lovelies! Hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Weekend :D

So this next post is about one of most favourite places to eat!! The Church restaurant situated centrally in Mullingar town across from the Harbor Place shopping centre just off the main street. So this actually used to be  a Presbyterian church and it was converted in to a restaurant. Such an unusual thing to do but works absolutely brilliantly :) On the wall outside the Church entrance grounds is a menu so you can get a  feel of what is on offer before you enter, then as you walk through the grounds it really feels like you're walking to church only to enter a beautiful modern open plan restaurant. There are two floors, so there is plenty of space and it is not over crowded with tables and chairs etc. The staff couldn't be more helpful from the minute you walk in, myself and my better half are always struggling with the buggy so its great to have some extra help trying to get through a door lol. They bring to you seat straight away and its always one to suit as in with the buggy they ensure we have a big enough table for space, here you also presented with your menus to suit the time of day, we're normally in for around lunch time so we always have the lunch time menu and it is to die for. The staff are so friendly and chatty especially the owner Pat, he couldn't do enough for you. There is low music in the background and the staff all work well together which creates a nice relaxed atmosphere.

If you fancy taking the weight off your feet from shopping or want to meet a friend for a coffee this is the perfect place as they have a wide range of coffees and teas to choose from. There is also a beautiful display of cakes, scones, cupcakes, croissants and more along the counter top. They do everything from pancakes for breakfast to a nice roast for dinner. They have so much on the menu including starters, mains and deserts. They do breakfast, lunch, evening meals and desserts. Their food is unbelievably nice and such good quality. My personal faves is the Brie with cranberry sauce and the homemade burger served with fries and side-salad. It is by far the best burger I have ever had and I'm not one for even normally ordering a burger off a menu but this is so good!!! Anthony normally gets the Caesar salad for starters and then the steak for main and it is delicious too. The food is so well presented and there is just enough to fill you nicely. The desserts..... My most favourite part they do everything from plain vanilla ice-cream to cheesecake to death by chocolate cake with ice-cream. They are absolutely delicious. I have had the death by chocolate and oh.my.god it is unreal!!! The chocolate cake is heated and then the ice-cream on the side... to die for! hence the name!!
Death by chocolate !!! mmm
I ordered vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce once when i was there and this was what i got! Needless to say my eyes lit up when i saw it coming lol. It was so nicely presented with strawberries, cream and a piece chocolate on top too. It was so good!! They also cater for kiddies too, they have a kiddies menu and they are so good at keeping them entertained with a colouring picture and crayons. Their children's portions are so generous. Lucy loves the chicken goujons and chips and she eats every last bit every rime. Then of course she looks for ice-cream where they add some smarties to it too. It's like all her Christmases come at once :)

They also have a wine bar so you can choose from a selected range of beers and wines, including white, red and rosé. These are perfect for the evening meals or if you really wanted to treat yourself have one at lunch time :)

So overall i would give this restaurant an easy 10 out of 10, myself and my partner have been here many times and have never left feeling hard done by or disappointed. The prices are so affordable. So if you';re ever stuck fro places to eat around Mullingar keep the Church restaurant in mind and drop in for a bite to eat or just a coffee and a scone :) Oh and i forgot to mention now that the weather is getting somewhat warmer they also have a seating area outside in the beautiful grounds as pictured below. so you can enjoy your coffee or wine in the beautiful sunshine when it does make a rare appearance.

Thank you all for reading

Lots of love
